I’ve been trying to get a more “dynamic” and cleaner sound in my more clubby tracks as of late, something which I don’t think I’ve quite mastered (pun intended?) in my work to date… I tend to suffer from wall-of-sound syndrome.
Think I’m getting there…

I figured I’d take a few snaps of my setup since I bothered to do some tidying today. It’s basic, but it does the job. I can only dream of the day in which I actually have a room that isn’t also my bedroom to use as a studio.

I must admit I’m having a lot of fun with recording and manipulating both my guitar playing and voice at the moment. I can’t sing, but I can drone roughly in tune and mess with effects. Sounds okay. I’m having fun with just experimenting a little.

I’ve been playing guitar for a good couple of years now, but I still can only manage the basics having never really properly taught myself or adhered to any strict practice regimes. What I have noted though, is the minute you add a metronome into the equation, you realise how fookin’ hard it is to play in perfect time! Thanks to the wonders of technology I can obviously try a few times to get it sounding good and then just use that. Just don’t expect any live performances any time soon ever.

Here’s a short (but hopefully fairly sweet) clip of something I came up with a couple of days ago. Hoping to evolve it into a proper track at some point, but since I’m kinda lazy, that may not happen.

So anyway, I hope to keep this updated with any random news, ramblings or musical snippets I may happen to have somewhere.  Perhaps if I’m lucky, people will actually start reading it.

This would be a pretty rubbish first post if I didn’t include anything remotely interesting, so I’ll use it to plug my recent remix I produced of Radiohead’s ‘Reckoner‘ as part of their ‘remix thingy’ (I believe that’s the official term.) It’s produced under my ‘The Tourist‘ alias, which I intend to use for all down tempo / ambient productions.
